Wax & Wine at Wiper & True
Two Bristol independents come together for a a cosy evening wax carving and learning how to make jewellery in your favourite local tap room. Sip signature beer or a glass of wine and learn about the ancient process of lost wax. What better way to spend a Thursday night?
Rebecca and Beth from Silver & Steel will guide participants through the process of carving your very own jewellery. Think signet rings, botanical pendant designs or celestial stackers. Anything 3d you can think of we can help you to make.
Learn how to size a ring, practice modelling and sculpting with soft red wax or carve your own details using hand tools into the harder blue or green wax. This makes a wax ‘master’ which can then be moulded or cast into sterling silver.
Tutors will explain the ancient process of lost wax casting and offer an additional sand casting workshop for participants who want to give it a go themselves. Items for lost wax casting will be sent off to Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter to be cast into silver and finished in house at Silver & Steel ready for collection or delivery.
The ticket price covers the carving and a glass of wine, beer or a soft drink. Casting the pieces is not included and costs extra. We don’t charge a mark-up on materials but the casting companies do charge a fee. Tutors can support you with carving something to the weight of your budget.
Optional Extras
+ Gold Plating in 18ct vermeil £50
+ Other metal options including white and yellow bronze
+ Solid Gold price quote on request
Please Note:
There is no obligation to cast but once casting is agreed there is an obligation to pay.
We don’t charge a markup on casting so you just pay for what the piece costs.
There is a finishing charge of £25 per person on just wax tickets if they are cast (but not per piece). You can come and just enjoy the experience.
Hang out in your favourite bar and make something new <3
